OKGIT GOALS
The GIT is dedicated to a stronger Oklahoma in the global economy, its dual mission
in this regard is:
• To advocate for sustainable economic development through export trade
and the attraction of foreign direct investment. This is achieved through bringing
together private sector, governmental, educational, and non-governmental organizations
in Oklahoma.
• To encourage and facilitate the internationalization of Oklahoma. This is
achieved through playing a liasion role among the general public, educational, and
governmental organizations that support global involvement.
The OKGIT is a not-for-profit corporation and an independent entity with no political affiliation. The formal state government for the OKGIT is the office of the Oklahoma Secretary of State.
OKGIT MEMBERSHIP
The membership includes 45 individuals representing Oklahoma citizens from the private, govermental, educational, and non-govermental sectors.

The GIT achieves its mission through a variety of activities:
• Sponsorship of major international events including the annual hosting of
Consuls General visits to Oklahoma, Day at the Capitol for international
students, facilitation of the U.S. Passport application process by state legisla
tors, and other events.
• Hosting of conferences and workshops that bring together organizations with
diverse international missions to share thought on needs and accomplishments
in the Oklahoma international arena.
• Assistance to governmental and other organizations in the hosting of foreign
visitors to the state.
• Provision of a GIT web site highlighting Oklahoma’s international achieve
ments, opportunities and the promotion of international events sponsored by
others.
